Shadow ghost in tomb doorway!
Mendy writes, "Hello all at ghoststudy.com. I love your site. I have had all
sorts of paranormal activity in my life since I was a child. However, I never
manage to capture it on film until now. This photo was taken about a year ago at
Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Nashville, TN. This is one of the Nashville areas oldest
cemeteries and is rumored to have a few spirits roaming around. It was about
5:30pm in August. The sun had just started to set and I wanted to capture a few
“spooky” lighting situations before I lost the light. It was pretty still, no
wind that I remember. I was the only one there at the time. I had been walking
around for about an hour. There were several locations (the older areas) where
my camera would stop functioning completely. I was using an old Canon AL-1 SLR
with a 50mm lens. There were several times I “felt” someone or something
following me. I would hear footstep in the leaves, turn around, and they would
stop. I tried the ‘take a picture over your shoulder thing’ but it didn’t work.
I was just leaving the cemetery when I saw a great photo opportunity. I jumped
out of my car, went over and took the picture. There wasn’t any thing really
creepy about it, except that the lighting was great and it was really old. I
process and print my own photos at my college so I know it wasn’t any kind of
lab error. When I saw this picture I about fell off my chair! There was a very
distinctive black shadow covering the door. It resembles a man leaning against
the door frame. I immediately ran into the dark room and made a print. After I
had one printed I showed it to my professor and he didn’t believe me. He blamed
it on shadows from trees and dubbed me “Spooky.” As you can see the other
shadows on the building are no where near as dark and the shadow on the door
does not look like a tree to me! I made prints at various times and no matter
how dark or light the print came out, that shadow stayed as black as night. I
have the negatives to prove this is not a fake or a trick of the light. I went
back many times to try and recreate the picture. No success on recreation! I
hope you enjoy the picture as much as I do.”

I know... many will say it's simply a shadow being
cast from an adjacent tree, well, I beg to differ. I actually see a shadow
figure leaning against the threshold of this tomb doorway as it motions it's way
outward. DarkAngel's comments:
This shadow seems to be too dark to be shading from a tree if you compare it
to the other shadows. Because of the straight edge on the left side of the
shadow, it looks to me like it's moving to the left, and into (or through) the
wall. |
