GEMSTONES AND THEIR PROPERTIES

I am often asked why I chose the name Amethyst as my name on Ghoststudy.  It is twofold really.  I love the color purple, and I love Amethyst stones 

I have loved stones and rocks ever since I was  a little girl and had no idea that certain stones held properties to help us with their vibrational healing properties. Ever since I can remember, I had a shoebox full of gorgeous little stones I picked up along the way.

When I got older I began to study stones and their meanings and I sewed a little leather pouch together and began to carry my stones in my purse.  Sometimes I will wear a few in a medicine bag around my neck, or I will choose to wear them in the form of jewelry.  I was once teaching a metaphysical class at a local university and tucked a piece of hematite to keep me grounded and a chuck of rose quartz, for calming energy, in my bra.  I dropped one of my lecture notes and bent down to pick it up and out tumbled the stones onto the floor.  I calmly just picked them up, laid them on my desk and kept on talking.  I got a few stares, but I didn't miss a beat.

If you are interested in stones or putting together your own collection, here are a few of my favorites and their properties.

AMETHYST (my favorite) has healing and spiritual energies; helps to protect from overindulgence.   AZURITE:  stimulates psychic abilities, healing and meditation.  Soothes energies bringing higher consciousness to Light.  BLOODSTONE: physical cleansing, purifies blood, detoxifies organs, brings harmony to one's vibrations.  CARNELIAN: helps ground and focus thoughts, used for infertility and impotence.  CITRINE: mental stimulant, opens conscious mind to intuition, enhances creativity  FLUORITE: grounds excess energies and helps one to work with large amounts of energy, focusing.  HEMATITE: grounding, increases intuition.  KUNZITE: high spiritual love vibration, awakens heart consciousness, comforts and heals heartache, balance of compassion, peace LAPIS LAZULI stone of royalty, if seeking will open hear to love and beauty, brings old emotional wounds to the surface for healing  MALACHITE:
centering protective, attests to truth within, physical protection MOONSTONE (another favorite of mine) reflective, clear-seeing, enhances clairvoyance, deals with inner planes and soul connection, opens one to the feminine aspect, harmony, good for travelers OBSIDIAN  draws soul qualities into body, purges negativity, stabilizes erratic energy  ROSE QUARTZ (a must have) soft love energy, balancing, calming to the emotions and heart, the love stone  SODALITE: throat stone, aide communication.

There are other beautiful stones that I have not mentioned in this article, but these will help get you started with your stone collection.
